April 8, 2023 - National Weather Service Hanford Office officials report high temperatures throughout Central California this afternoon will be two to four degrees warmer than yesterday afternoon.

By Monday afternoon, maximum temperatures across Central California will be around ten degrees above normal for this time of year.

.SYNOPSIS...
A warming trend is expected today through Monday. By Monday
afternoon, high temperatures will be around ten degrees above
normal for this time of year. A cooling trend is expected Tuesday
and Wednesday. By Wednesday afternoon, high temperatures will be 
seven to nine degrees below normal for this time of year. A few 
light showers cannot be ruled out Wednesday night and Thursday.

.DISCUSSION...
A ridge of high pressure will amplify over the Golden State this
weekend. This ridge of high pressure will progress eastward across
the Western United States Monday. A warming trend is anticipated
today through Monday. By Monday afternoon, high temperatures will
be around ten degrees above their typical values for the first 
half of April. Here are probabilities of maximum temperatures of 
80 degrees or higher for select locations in the San Joaquin 
Valley on Monday, April 10th, 2023:

Hanford - 86%
Delano - 86%
Fresno - 81%
Bakersfield - 81%
Visalia - 81%
Porterville - 81%
Lemoore - 81%
Reedley - 81%
Madera - 71%
Merced - 66%

An Eastern Pacific storm system will move inland over the Pacific
Northwest Tuesday. A trough of low pressure will deepen just
offshore of California Tuesday night and Wednesday. A cooling
trend is anticipated Tuesday through Wednesday. By Wednesday
afternoon, high temperatures will be seven to nine degrees below
their typical values for the middle of April. Strong, gusty
westerly winds are possible Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday
evening in the Kern County mountains and desert. A Wind Advisory
may be required. An area of low pressure should develop in the
base of the aforementioned trough Wednesday night. This cyclone
aloft should begin to move eastward Thursday. There is a slight
chance of a few light showers Wednesday night and Thursday due to
the proximity of this upper-level area of low pressure. The
cyclone aloft should pass eastward over the Baja Peninsula Friday.
