TRAFFIC ADVISORY
Lane Shift Planned for State Route 99 at the
Cottonwood Creek Bridge Replacement Project in Madera County
May 5, 2023 - MADERA COUNTY - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), along with Security Paving, announces a planned lane shift for southbound State Route 99, just south of Avenue 12, in Madera County.
The following will occur:
- During the next phase of the project, the current southbound lanes will be moved to the Avenue 12 eastbound on-ramp lanes as the main line for southbound traffic.
- The new traffic pattern is needed as crews start to remove the current bridge at Cottonwood Creek.
- The new traffic pattern will take place Sunday night, May 7th, starting at 10:00 p.m.
- Traffic signs warning drivers about the traffic shift will be in place.
- Drivers should pay added attention as the new lanes will be more narrow than usual.
- The speed limit through the construction will be 55 mph so drivers need to slow down.
- This new traffic pattern will be in place for the next several months.
Closures may continue for longer periods of time, if necessary, due to delays caused by weather or uncontrollable events that may occur.
Caltrans reminds you to drive with extra care and allow additional time while travelling near construction zones. Please be alert for construction personnel and remember to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
