Fatal Vehicle Fire Under Investigation 

May 25, 2025 – Merced County Sheriff's Office officials report that early Saturday morning at approximately 3:30 A.M., deputies responded to a report of a vehicle collision near the Campus Parkway on-ramp from Highway 140.

Upon arrival, deputies located a vehicle that had collided with a fixed object and was fully engulfed in flames. After the fire was extinguished, a deceased individual was found inside the vehicle.

During the investigation, additional information was received indicating that a person associated with the vehicle had recently been reported missing. Deputies are currently working with investigators and the Coroner’s Office to determine the identity of the decedent.

This incident remains under active investigation. No further information is available at this time.
