August 15, 2016 - The August, Oakhurst /Coarsegold/Mariposa/ Mountain Area Tea Party Action Meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 16th at 6:30 p.m. at the Best Western Yosemite Gateway Inn Restaurant, in Oakhurst - matp@sti.net - 559–642-4921

URGENT! URGENT! Calling all 2nd Amendment Supporters!

2nd Amendment rights in California are under massive attacks by our Democratic Legislature and Governor. In July and August of 2016 Governor Brown signed a number of new draconian anti 2nd Amendment bills into law that will turn Legal firearm owners into felons as of January 1, 2017 unless these anti-Constitutional laws are nullified. It is important that firearm owners understand these laws and their impact to prevent themselves from becoming felons.

To help sort through the maze of these new laws and future propositions being placed on the November ballot such as Gavin Newsom’s proposition 63, the so called “Safety for All” Gun Control (confiscation) Initiative, the Mountain Area Tea Party will have several speakers addressing this topic on Tuesday, August 16 at the Best Western Yosemite Gateway Inn Restaurant in Oakhurst.

Feature speakers will include Madera County Sheriff Jay Varney, David Matza, communications manager of the California Rifle and Pistol Association (CRPA) and a California Representative for the NRA, and Monique Hutchings Owner of Spencer Firearms, Madera.

David Matza serves as Communications Manager for the CRPA and speaks throughout California informing gun owners on the currant laws being passed and how CRPA and its allies plan to combat these laws going forward. David will also speak on what CRPA, the official state association of the NRA, does to promote safe and responsible gun ownership, which includes education, training programs and more, that will preserve the Second Amendment in California and ensure that it continues to exist for generations to come.

Monique Hutchings will discuss the goal of California liberals and progressives to make California a gun free state within 10 years and how gun owners must fight back. She found her calling to the firearms business due to a self-defense need which quickly led to competitive shooting and training new shooters. Her shooting passion is Steel Challenge, N.S.S.F. and U.S.P.S.A. but all these sport classes which hold world championship matches in our state as well as 3 gun competitions will all but cease to exist here. Competitors from around the country will face becoming criminals to come here to compete and we as California citizens will no longer be able to purchase guns or components to stay competitive, and better yet, have to surrender without compensation our legally owned magazines. When she is not selling guns on the counter, she is educating the public on upcoming bills or recently passed legislation.

Sheriff Jay Varney is responsible for providing public protection and investigating crimes that occur within the unincorporated areas of Madera County. He has been a strong advocate of 2nd Amendment rights and the right of law abiding individuals to obtain Concealed Carry Permits.
