August 30, 2016 - Sacramento – Senator Tom Berryhill (R-Twain Harte) announces that Senate Bill 1345, a measure to extend the sunset date of Inyo County’s Off Highway tom berryhill california state senatorVehicle Adventure Trails pilot program has been signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown.

“I am so pleased the Governor agreed to extend the Inyo County Off Highway Vehicle Adventure Trails pilot program for another three years,” said Berryhill. “Linking up segments of existing OHV trails makes sense in rural communities. It gives folks easy access to the trails and keeps people from illegally driving on non-trails or private property.”

SB 1345 extends a five-year pilot program that allowed Inyo County to designate specific county streets and roads as combined-use routes for off-highway vehicle. Assembly Bill 628 (AB 628 - Conway) in 2011 enacted the program originally. These combine-use routes link existing OHV trails and trailheads allowing drivers easier access to in-town goods and services.

The pilot program’s implementation had been delayed by an extensive environmental review and public input process. As a result, only about six- months of data was collected on the three combined-use routes authorized under AB 628. SB 1345 extends the original program for an additional three years.
