MLJC LogoThe Mother Lode Jewish Community (MLJC) is holding two linked events in May… a “spring clean-up” of the Sonora Hebrew Cemetery followed by a BBQ at a home in Jamestown.  Then in June the group’s Annual Meeting and Pool Party will take place in Murphys.

Both the cemetery clean-up and BBQ take place on Sunday, May 21st, 2017.  Folks are welcome to attend one or both.  Those interested in helping weed and freshen up the historic Jewish Cemetery in the heart of old Sonora are urged to bring weed eaters (if you have one handy), rakes, brooms and work gloves. This is an annual “spring cleaning” and, depending on how many volunteers turn out, takes just over an hour.  It will begin at 10 a.m.  Then, starting at 11:30 a.m., there will be a casual BBQ in Jamestown… complete with potluck salads and desserts, plenty of kibitzing as well as just plain relaxing and enjoying a great springtime day in our wonderful foothills with friends.

More information on the June event, scheduled for Sunday afternoon, June 25th will be announced at a later date.

You can learn more about the MLJC, including a schedule of upcoming events and membership criteria in the group at: MotherLodeJewishCommunity.org.  Please email us at motherlodejc@yahoo.com or call 209-533-1650 for more information about participating in any of these events.  Non-members are always welcome.

The MLJC’s mission is to provide opportunities and events that nurture a vibrant and enduring Jewish identity, culture and community in the Mother Lode.  The group draws its members from Amador, Calaveras, Mariposa and Tuolumne counties.  New members are most welcome.
