Homicide Investigation
July 18, 2025 – Ventura County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on July 10, 2025, at approximately 8:23 p.m., deputies responded to a residence in the 2900 block of Crescent Way in Thousand Oaks in reference to a stabbing that occurred. When deputies arrived, they found a male subject inside the residence suffering from stab wounds. The stabbing victim was transported to Los Robles Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Robert Andrew DeJarnette of Simi Valley.
The investigation revealed Miguel Cano stabbed the victim with a knife and fled the scene in a vehicle with the murder weapon. The vehicle Cano fled the scene in has been recovered; however, Cano is currently outstanding and his whereabouts are unknown.
Investigators with the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau assumed responsibility for the investigation and are actively investigating the incident as a homicide. Investigators are seeking assistance from the public and are urging anyone with information related to Miguel Cano’s whereabouts to contact Detective Katie Torres at 805-384-4740 or Detective Robert DeLaCerda at 805-384-4724.
