Officer-Involved Shooting in Olympic Division 

**The following information is based on a preliminary and ongoing investigation, which continues to evolve as investigators interview witnesses, review physical and electronic records, and analyze forensic evidence. December 1, 2025 – Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles Police Department officials report that the (LAPD) Force LAPD logoInvestigation Division is investigating an Officer-Involved Shooting (OIS) that occurred in Olympic Division.

On November 28, 2025, around 7:15 a.m., Olympic Patrol Division uniformed officers responded to a radio call of an Assault with a Deadly Weapon suspect near the 850 block of South Vermont Avenue. The comments of the call indicated that the suspect, later identified as 35-year-old, Freisman Sanchez, had broken the windows of a business and was stabbing himself with pieces of broken glass.

As officers arrived at the scene, they observed Sanchez in the middle of the street with his shirt covered in blood and a piece of broken glass in his hand. Officers attempted to communicate with Sanchez, but he refused to comply with commands and began to walk away. As additional units arrived, Sanchez ran directly toward one of the officers and an Officer-Involved Shooting (OIS) occurred. Sanchez was struck by gunfire and collapsed on the sidewalk a short distance away. An arrest team was assembled, and Sanchez was taken into custody without further incident

Sanchez was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for multiple gunshot wounds and self-inflicted stab wounds. Sanchez was arrested for 245(C) PC- Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Peace Officer and booking is pending medical treatment.

No officers or community members were injured during this incident.

The piece of glass Sanchez was holding was recovered from the scene and booked as evidence.

Force Investigation Division (FID) investigators responded to the scene and are investigating this incident.
