October 15, 2025 – Fresno County Sheriff's Office officials report that homicide detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have arrested
53-year-old Salvador Rizo of Kerman. On October 13th, detectives with the Sheriff’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (ViCAT) took Rizo into custody in Kings County. He has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on a charge of murder and is currently not eligible for bail.
Around 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 4th, sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of an injured person. Deputies arrived at a home on the 3300 block of S. Congress Avenue in Kerman where a wedding celebration was taking place. The victim was found to have severe injuries and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center where he later died. He was identified as 63-year-old Martin Tovar Zalazar of Kerman.

Homicide detectives and members of the Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit responded to collect evidence and interview potential witnesses. Detectives later developed information to show Salvador Rizo was the primary suspect and an arrest warrant for murder was issued. Detectives determined this was an isolated incident where the suspect and victim knew each other.
