Modesto Police Make Arrest in Latest Homicide Investigation
April 17, 2026 – Modesto, CA – Modesto Police Department officials report that following a thorough
investigation detectives have made an arrest in the homicide investigation involving 37-year-old Juan Carreon, which occurred on April 9, 2026, near the Neece boat ramp in the 700 block of Neece Drive.
On Thursday, April 9, 2026, shortly before 4:00 p.m., officers responded to the report of a person down near the Neece boat ramp. Upon arrival, officers located Juan Carreon of Modesto suffering from multiple injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel.
After an extensive and thorough investigation, detectives identified 41-year-old Juan Trujillo Mendoza of Modesto as the suspect in this case. Mendoza has since been arrested and booked on murder charges.
