April 23, 2023 - Fresno County Sheriff's Office officials report Homicide detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have arrested 22-year-old Masael Rivas Reyes of 
Mendota. He has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on a charge of murder. His bail is set at $1 million.
Shortly after 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 16th, Mendota Police responded to a report of an injured person. Officers arrived at an apartment complex on Oller Street, between Fourth and Fifth Streets, and found a man lying in a carport suffering from traumatic injuries. He was determined to be deceased. The victim, 40-year-old Danny Ramirez, was living homeless on the streets of Mendota. Ramirez and Reyes knew each other well.
Identification technicians with our Crime Scene Unit played a critical role in solving this case by recovering a fingerprint at the scene, which helped to identify Reyes as the possible suspect.
