May 30, 2024 - There are currently 9 large, uncontained wildfires across the country, including three in Arizona, two in New Mexico, and the other four 
are burning in Alaska, California, Colorado and Florida. About 2,240 wildland firefighters and support personnel are assigned to incidents across the country.
The Southwest area continues to have the most uncontained wildfires. The Blue 2 and Indios fires in New Mexico both have a complex incident management team assigned. Visit Inciweb for more detailed information on incidents across the country.
Since January 1 2024, 15.689 wildfires have burned 1,925,038. People have caused15,235 wildfires that burned 1,878,225 acres. That's nearly 98% of the total acres burned in 2024. Very warm and dry conditions are forecast across the Southwest, with minimum relative humidity of 3-15% followed by poor overnight recovery. Cooler temperatures are forecast across much of the Great Basin, northern and central Rockies, and Inland Northwest. However, hot and dry northerly winds are expected across much of the Sacramento Valley today, with locally breezy and warm conditions into the Bay Area as well. Hot temperatures will continue across much of Florida where minimum relative humidity will fall below 35%, with isolated afternoon thunderstorms likely across south Florida. Showers and thunderstorms will develop on the Plains today, with scattered thunderstorms extending into the Lower Mississippi Valley. Some of the storms on the southern Plains may be severe with heavy rain. Isolated thunderstorms are forecast for the Alaska Interior along with temperatures a little above normal, while moderate trade winds continue for Hawai’i.
