This year along the Merced River corridor a wonderful weekend of art and local shopping is planned. On Saturday, December 13th, 2014 ART ON THE RIVER, a local art walk, is a wonderful opportunity to visit and shop with local artists in Old El Portal at well signed homes. The artists are excited to share their creative gifts with the public from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. This unique venue in El Portal will showcase the abundance of local hand-made items such as: jewelry, paintings, pottery, blacksmithing, hand-printed clothing, handmade soaps, woodwork, and more!
Living in the Sierra foothills and experiencing nature every day inspires our local artists to create unique art. ART ON THE RIVER has assembled an exceptionally talented group of people. Artists put their talent, technique, and even their sense of humor into pieces that make thoughtful gifts. Meeting and purchasing directly from an artist opens a door for a connection to both the giver and the one who receives the gift. It is fun to meet the artist who creates something you like and at the same time, your holiday list gets shorter! It is also a perfect way to keep our resources and talent local.
On Saturday, December 13th come visit artists at their homes in El Portal, you will meet local artists happy to share their inspiration with you before returning home, laden with all the handmade gifts your friends and family desired for Christmas.
This is a fun and festive local event that supports local artists. Please come and stroll from home to home to shop for and enjoy local art and visit the artists who make it. This is a fun and very local event that we have enjoyed in our little mountain town for many years. We invite you to enjoy it with us!
El Portal homes will be well signed and there will be easy-to-read maps available at any location if needed. Maps will also be available on the community notice board at the El Portal Post Office the day and week of the event.
Art on the River on Saturday, December 13 at 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
