Anne Rutherford

Anne-Rutherford“I'm afraid I can't explain myself, sir. Because I am not myself, you see?” Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

With a wild and unique repertoire of stories, poems and songs for audiences of all ages, Anne Rutherford will join Mariposa's Storytelling Festival, March 13-15.   Her original and vintage stories of humor, adventure, trickster, and supernatural tales, plus a good dose of Northwest folklore, are a hilarious escape from the routine world.  Ann's latest release is a one-woman presentation of Alice in Wonderland.   From the Queen of Hearts to the Mad Hatter, Anne’s solo version of the Lewis Carroll classic brings the Alice characters to life in a way seldom imagined. She just released a new book, Who are you in Wonderland, a fun, interactive workbook using imaginative writing and drawing prompts to explore the vivid characters like the White Rabbit, Hatter and Queen of Hearts as aspects of the Hero's Journey.

She is a teaching artist in the schools with Young Audiences of Oregon, a member of the Portland and Seattle storytelling guilds and the National Storytelling Network. Ann is also two-time first place winner in the NW Folklore Festival Liar's Contest, so don't believe all you hear! Rutherford is truly a funny lady!
