Civil-War-DaysThe Las Mariposas Civil War Group, in partnership with the American Civil War Association proudly presents the 9th Annual, ‘Civil War Days in Mariposa’.  This year the event is to be held on Friday, April 17th through Sunday, April 19th, 2015.  All at the Long's Mariposa Ranch, once a part of John C. Fremont's historic 44,386 acre Las Mariposas Land Grant.

Tour the military and civilian encampments where you will see firsthand how life was during this trying time in American history. Visit with both Confederate and Federal soldiers and see how they lived while on campaign.  Walk through the town of Longville and see how the war touched the day to day lives of the Civilians as well.  Visit the sutlers, who provided supplies to the soldiers and civilians, and shop for everyday items from this period.

On Friday area schools visit the site and enjoy looking back into history, as they get to see historical reenactments that are a wonderful educational experience.  All schools must be pre-registered to attend.

On Saturday there will be guided tours of all the camps at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., three battles; two day battles at 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., followed by an evening battle at 7:00 p.m. with a dance and a dessert social following the battle.  See as the soldiers prepare for battle, then watch as the muzzle flashes from the rifles and cannons light up the battlefield, and then join us as we wrap up the day with dancing and desserts all by the glow of lanterns.

On Sunday, come and join the reenactors for church under the oaks at 9:30 a.m.  A guided tour of the camps will be held at 12:00 p.m.  The final battle of the weekend will take place at 1 p.m.

This is a fantastic way for the entire family to experience life during the American Civil War.  So gather up the family and come out and join us on April 18th & 19th as we relive this most trying time in our nations history.  We hope to see you all there.
