November 29, 2023 - The Mariposa Yosemite Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) will perform its 19th annual Festive Holiday Concert on Saturday, December 16 at 7:00 P.M. in the auditorium of the First Baptist Church of Mariposa.  Online ticket purchasing and downloadable in-depth program notes by MYSO Founder/Conductor Les Marsden are now available at http://MYSO.live.

Mariposa's First Baptist Church is located at 5005 Frank Wilson Road.  A spacious yet warm, acoustically beautiful facility, the auditorium  comfortably seats 250.  This concert marks the first time the MYSO has played in the church and appreciates the hospitality of Pastors Ray Shull and Benjamin Youngren.  Intermission refreshment sales will benefit the church's youth programs.

Advance online tickets are urged with prices of only $10/Adults and $8/Students.  If tickets are still available on the night of the concert, they will be sold at the door for $15/Adults and $10/Students.  Tickets and all donations to the orchestra are tax-deductible.

This annual concert, first held on December 21, 2002, is one of the orchestra's most popular.  The program for 2023 includes Prokofiev's "Lt. Kijé Suite" with its famous Troika "sleigh bell" movement, Humperdinck's "Evening Prayer" from "Hansel und Gretel," Hérold's "Zampa" Overture, Offenbach's "Orphée aux Enfers" Overture, Mozart's Overture to "The Marriage of Figaro," Marsden's "Sierra Christmas Party" and much more.  In the words of Marsden, "there's no finer way to get into the holiday spirit than being in the presence of friends, family and even perfect strangers gathered together to experience the joy of live symphonic holiday music.  And it's all that much more enjoyable when you can do this in Mariposa!"
