May 10, 2021 - Merced, California – The Merced Police Department reports on May 10, 2021 at approximately 1:13 A.M. the Merced police department responded to a subject lying next to the roadway at Ashby Rd. just east of Cooper Ave., not moving. When officers arrived, they found a (35) year old male subject who had obvious signs of being struck by a vehicle. The victim said he walking east on Ashby when he was stuck by an unknown vehicle. The vehicle, which was travelling west on Ashby, did not stop. The victim was transported to a Modesto hospital and is in critical condition.
