May 12, 2021 - Patterson, CA. - Detectives with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office have made a homicide arrest related to the body recovered from the California Aqueduct in Westley on Wednesday, May 11, 2021.

During their follow-up investigation, 33-year-old Patterson resident, Juan Ramon Haro Ortega, was identified as a person of interest in the death of Anthony “Tony” Pistoia also of Patterson. The two were believed to be roommates. The victim was 62 years-old at the time of his death.

The investigation is ongoing and cause of death is still unknown. The location of the primary crime scene is believed to be in the 1100 block of Tern Way in Patterson.

Ortega is currently being held without bail at the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center awaiting arraignment for homicide, assault and Immigration and Naturalization Service hold charges.
