February 12, 2022 - The Ventura County Sheriff's Office reports on February 10, 2022, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit (PCU) concluded an investigation into Mr. Pablo Perez, 
who was wanted in connection with his sales of fentanyl in the City of Thousand Oaks that resulted in two fatal drug overdoses.
On October 31, 2021, Thousand Oaks Patrol deputies were dispatched to the 1000 block of Amberton Lane to find a subject who was deceased as the result of a fentanyl overdose. Several months later, on December 8, 2021, Thousand Oaks Patrol deputies responded to a second fatal overdose in the 100 block of East Hillcrest Drive. Ventura County Interagency Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit (PCU) detectives handled the investigations and determined that Perez was the same drug dealer who sold fentanyl to both victims which caused their deaths.
On February 10, 2022, PCU and Ventura County Narcotics Street Team (NST) detectives served a search warrant at Pablo Perez’ residence in the Skid Row area of Los Angeles and arrested him for his involvement in the overdoses. Detectives seized fentanyl, methamphetamine, digital scales, U.S. currency and taser electronic weapon.
Pablo Perez was arrested for 11351HS- Possession for Sales of a Controlled Substance, 11352 HS- Sales of a Controlled Substance, 11377 HS- Possession of a Dangerous Drug, 22210 PC- Possession of a Dangerous Weapon and 22610 PC- Possession of an Electronic Stun Device by a Convicted Felon. He was booked into the Ventura County Jail and is scheduled for arraignment on February 15, 2022, in Ventura County Superior Court. Mr. Perez’ bail was set at $60,000.

The Ventura County Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit is a task force made up of members from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and the Thousand Oaks Police Department; The primary mission of the task force is combatting the transfer of legal prescription medication and fentanyl to the illegal market. In addition, the task force works to identify and stop new trends of abuse among the younger population and investigates overdoses due to both prescription medication and illicit drug use.
