December 29, 2022 - OAKLAND — Our eagle-eyed deputies ensure the safety of our Placer County community 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The below incident is a glimpse into some of the situations they encounter throughout their shift.
On December 15th at 3:09 a.m., a Placer County Sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop on Highway 49 at Dry Creek, in North Auburn. The deputy contacted the driver and upon a search of his person, the deputy found approximately two grams of cocaine and $2,640 in cash. A search of the suspect driver’s truck revealed three realistic-looking imitation police badges, an unregistered and loaded firearm in a holster, a second loaded firearm in a holster not registered in the driver’s name, approximately 17 grams of cocaine, GHB concealed in a small “Fireball Whiskey” bottle, over 50 small Ziploc bags, two digital scales, and several magazines loaded with ammunition. The suspect, 40-year-old Alexander Reiff of Grass Valley, was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm, being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition, possession of a controlled substance while armed, and transportation of a controlled substance for sale.
