February 24, 2023 - Ventura County Sheriff's Office officials report that on February 23rd, 2023, four suspects were arrested for participating in a battery resulting in Ventura County Sheriff logoserious bodily injury, for the benefit of a street gang.  One juvenile suspect remains outstanding and his arrest is imminent.  The battery occurred at a Thousand Oaks shopping center on February 3rd, 2023.

On February 3rd, 2023, (S) Sabrina Luna, (S) Brian Herrera and three juveniles attended a Thousand Oaks shopping center, where they encountered a group of five additional male juveniles who identify with a rival Thousand Oaks criminal street gang.  Luna and three male juveniles approached and physically attacked one of the rival juveniles, while Herrera approached the remainder of the group and revealed a knife concealed in the waistline of his pants, preventing them from becoming involved.  Luna and the three juveniles also yelled their gang and flashed gang signs during this incident.  As a result of this attack, the male juvenile victim suffered serious bodily injury which required suturing.

On February 23rd, 2023, detectives served a search warrant at the residence of the suspects which resulted in the collection of evidence and gang paraphernalia related to the crime. Luna and Herrera were booked at the Ventura County Main Jail and the juveniles were booked at the Ventura County Juvenile Justice Center.  All were booked on charges of 243(d) PC, battery resulting in serious bodily injury, 186.22 PC, participation in a criminal street gang, and 182 PC, conspiracy.   

The Thousand Oaks Police Department takes a zero-tolerance stance against gang violence and encourages anyone who witnesses or is aware of gang activity to immediately notify us by calling 911 or our non-emergency line (805) 654-9511.  Anyone wishing to report activity can remain anonymous if they chose to do so.
