Camarillo Robbery Arrests
April 17, 2023 - Ventura County Sheriff’s Office officials report that investigators with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office arrested two suspects involved in an armed robbery of an individual.
On March 21, 2023, at approximately 1:22 A.M. (0122 hours), deputies from the Camarillo Police Department were dispatched to a robbery call in the City of Camarillo and contacted the victim. Deputies learned that during the late-night hours on 03/20/2023, the victim was at a sports bar, along the 300-block of Arneill Road in the City of Camarillo. While at the establishment, the victim was confronted by two suspects. During the confrontation, one of the suspects brandished a firearm and the second suspect implied having a stabbing instrument. The suspects threatened the victim and demanded the victim’s property. The suspects took an undisclosed amount of money from the victim. The victim was able to escape and fled the area.
Investigators with the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau and Camarillo Special Enforcement Detail conducted the investigation. (S) David Mora and (S) Khalid Malik were identified as the suspects of the robbery.
On April 13, 2023, detectives detained (S) David Mora in his vehicle, along the 2700-block of Hartnell Street in the city of Camarillo, pursuant to a search warrant. A short time later, detectives executed the search warrant at Mora’s residence, located along the 2000-block of Marco Drive in Camarillo. During the search of Mora’s residence, detectives located evidence linking him to the robbery. Detectives also located cocaine, Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), psilocybin mushrooms, Alprazolam pills, packaging material and additional evidence indicating Mora possessed the controlled substances for sales. Mora was arrested for one count of PC 211-Robbery related to the original incident. In addition, Mora was arrested for one count of H&S 11351-Possession for Sale of a Controlled Substance and one count of H&S 11378-Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sale. Mora was booked into the Ventura County Jail and is currently in custody on $150,000 bail. His arraignment is set for 04/17/2023 in the Ventura Superior Court.
On April 13, 2023, detectives executed a search warrant at (S) Khalid Malik’s residence, located along the 2800-block of Barry Street in Camarillo. During the execution of the search warrant, Malik was contacted inside of the residence. During the search, detectives located evidence linking Malik to the robbery. In addition, detectives also located an unregistered handgun, commonly referred to as “ghost gun”, in Malik’s bedroom. Malik was arrested for one count of PC 211- Robbery and one count of PC 27545- Unlawful Firearm Transfer. Malik was booked into the Ventura County Jail and is currently in custody on $65,000 bail. His arraignment is set for April 17, 2023, in the Ventura Superior Court.
