Homicide Investigation - Unincorporated El Cajon 

April 29, 2023 - San Diego County Sheriff Department officials report that on April 27, 2023, just before 2:00 A.M., the San Diego County Sheriff's Department received a radio call of gunshots heard on Renfro Way in the unincorporated area of El Cajon. The reporting party indicated they heard 8 to 10 gunshots and yelling from a house party. Shortly after the initial radio call, a second reporting party called to report someone had been shot at a residence located in the 800 block of Renfro Way in unincorporated El Cajon.

Deputies arrived at the location around 2:00 A.M. and located numerous individuals leaving the area on foot and in vehicles. Upon approaching the residence, deputies were flagged down by an individual stating someone was injured inside of the residence. Deputies entered the residence and located a male subject, later identified to be 20 years old, inside of the residence. He was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Deputies rendered medical aid. The male was airlifted to Sharp Memorial hospital for treatment of his injuries but was pronounced deceased at 4:02 A.M. The victim's identification is being withheld at this time, pending notification of family members.

Deputies searched the rest of the residence for other victims or a suspect(s). They located another male inside the residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Deputies rendered medical aid. The male was unresponsive and ultimately pronounced deceased at 2:45 A.M. The male is currently unidentified.

At this stage of the investigation, the nature of the relationship between the victims and any potential suspect(s) is unclear. The motivation and circumstances of the shooting are still under investigation.
