Deputies from the Norwalk Station responded to a “Gunshot Victim” call for service near the 11900 block of 162nd Street in Norwalk. The incident occurred on Friday, April 28, 2023, at approximately 3:55 p.m.
When deputies arrived, they located a male Hispanic adult, approximately 55 years old, down next to a park bench suffering from several gunshot wounds to his upper torso. Deputies immediately performed life-saving measures by initiating cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics responded and continued CPR. Paramedics ultimately pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
Witnesses saw several male Hispanic suspects congregating near the bench where the victim was located. After hearing the gunshots, witnesses saw the suspects run northbound through the park and out of view.
It is believed this shooting was gang-related.
