Update on Deadly River Conditions
May 23, 2023 - Placer County Sheriff's Office officials report that on April 29th, two days after our first PSA warning the public about the danger of swimming in a river, we received a call of a young adult male who was swept away into the American River at the confluence.
This past Friday, our coroner’s unit responded to Rattlesnake Bar at Folsom Lake for a body found in the water. Upon further investigation, the decedent was identified as 22-year-old Victor Nguyen of Antelope, the young man who was swept away in the river on April 29th.
We continue to search for the second victim who was swept away at Yankee Jims on Mother’s Day. Please let these horrific incidents serve as an example of why we continue to warn the public to stay out of the river.
Our condolences go out to Victor’s family and friends during this difficult time.
