May 25, 2023 - Los Angeles Police Department officials report that Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Topanga Division are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect who stabbed a Metro bus driver.

On May 24, 2023, around 5:15 p.m., Topanga Division patrol officers responded to Erwin Street and Topanga Canyon Boulevard for a radio call of an “Assault with a Deadly Weapon”.

The investigation revealed that a male suspect entered a Metro bus and had a verbal argument with the Metro bus driver. The bus driver and the suspect exited the bus and continued the argument, at which time the suspect produced a knife (or sharp object) and stabbed the bus driver multiple times.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported the bus driver to a local hospital in critical condition, where he underwent surgery. The bus driver’s identify has not been revealed at this time.

The suspect fled on foot eastbound Erwin Street from Topanga Canyon Boulevard. He is described as a 21-year-old male, White, with blonde curly hair and a thin build. He stands 6 feet tall and was wearing a red shirt, black pants, and a black backpack.
