Death Investigation 

May 30, 2023 - San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on May 29, 2023, around 12:30 a.m., Sheriff's Homicide investigators were notified that 32-year-old, Roselee Bartolacci, passed away at the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility. We extend our sympathies to the Bartolacci family and those affected by her death. A Sheriff's Family Liaison Officer will support the family who have been notified, as they deal with the loss of a loved one.

Bartolacci was arrested on April 6, 2023, by the San Diego County Sheriff's Department and she was booked into the Vista Detention Facility.  She was charged with 245(A)(4) – Assault with a Deadly Weapon. On April 7, 2023, she was transferred to the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility.

On May 28, 2023, during a check of the housing unit, Bartolacci, who was the sole occupant of her cell, was found to be unresponsive.  Deputies and medical staff immediately began life saving measures including CPR. Paramedics arrived and assumed medical care for the patient. Despite these efforts, she was pronounced deceased.

The Citizen's Law Enforcement Review Board (CLERB) representative was notified of this incident and responded to the scene.

As is the protocol for all in-custody deaths, the Sheriff's Homicide Unit responded and will conduct a thorough investigation. The cause and manner of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner's Office.
