Fatal Traffic Collision

June 3, 2023 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on June 1, 2023, about 10:45 p.m., deputies from the Riverside Sheriff’s Moreno Valley Station, were dispatched to a riverside county sheriff logomajor injury traffic collision near the 14000 block of Elsworth Street. Deputies arrived on scene within minutes and located a  black Toyota sedan with major collision damage and a blue Semi-tractor trailer with minor damage. The driver and sole occupant of the black Toyota sustained major injuries and succumbed to the injuries at the scene. The driver of the blue Semi-tractor trailer was not injured and remained at the scene. The Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The investigation revealed the black Toyota was traveling northbound on Elsworth Street when it collided into the rear of the Semi-tractor trailer.

The victim's identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification. It is currently unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision. The traffic collision investigation required the temporary closure of Elsworth Street, between Cactus Avenue and New Hope Drive, to process the scene and collect evidence.

This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact Deputy Andrew Galbreath of the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station at 951-486-6700 or the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office at 951-776-1099.
