June 5, 2023 - San Diego Police Department officials report that coming off the heels of Southeastern Division's success in finding two guns in one shift (previous post), our police team is on a roll! They're doing an amazing job keeping us safe! First, Southeastern Division's Crime Suppression Team found two guns in one shift.  Then, Northern Division's Crime Suppression Team did even better! They said, "Watch this," and seized three guns in two different investigations during one shift in different parts of our town.

At the first stop, it was getting dark when the officers saw a car with people drinking alcohol in the car. When the officers went closer, they found more beer bottles and an empty gun magazine. They detained everyone in the car and found two guns, bullets, and a collapsible baton. One of the guns was stolen, and the other was not registered. Two men were arrested for having these illegal weapons.

Just a few hours later, Northern Division's Crime Suppression Team stopped a car in another part of our town because of an equipment violation. When they got closer, they smelled and saw marijuana cigarettes in the car. They searched the car and found lots of marijuana. They found mason jars filled with it, a large bag and even small baggies filled with it, and a scale. But the surprise came when they discovered an unregistered handgun in the car. The man driving the car was not allowed to have a gun because he was a convicted felon. He was arrested for having illegal weapons and for other narcotics-related charges.

Our police officers are working hard to keep our city safe, and they're doing a great job!
