July 10, 2023 - San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office officials report on the weekend search for missing 5-year-old Kyle Doan. Kyle was swept away by flood waters on January 9, 2023, in San Marcos Creek. There have been many searches for Kyle since January.
Yesterday marked 6 months since Kyle was tragically swept away by raging floodwaters in San Marcos Creek. The Sheriff’s Office has been working to locate Kyle since that day in the hopes of reuniting him with his family. Those efforts continued on Sunday with help from search crews throughout the state. In the afternoon the search expanded into southern Monterey County. Crews continue their detailed systematic search for any sign of Kyle.
This weekend’s large-scale search has concluded. Unfortunately, Kyle was not located. We are saddened that these efforts did not result in reuniting Kyle with his family. At this time the Sheriff’s Office will be assessing the situation to determine what is reasonable and possible going forward. We would like to thank everyone who assisted this weekend as well as our community for their ongoing support.
