In-Custody Death 

September 15, 2023 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Thursday, September 14th, 2023, deputies from the Robert Presley Detention Center were alerted to an unresponsive male inmate in the intake area. Deputies and jail medical personnel immediately administered life-saving measures. Paramedics responded and assumed life-saving measures. However, he was ultimately pronounced deceased.

Investigators from the Corrections Central Investigations Bureau responded and assumed the investigation. The inmate has been identified as 48-year-old Damon Bietz, of Riverside. There are no signs of foul play, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Investigator Art Rodriguez at (951) 922-7152.
