Update October 20: Hiker Fatality on Mt. Whitney in Sequoia National Park - Tom Gerbier, a French National of Fontenay-sous-Bois, France May Have Fell Off a Cliff

Missing Hiker on Mount Whitney 

October 20, 2023 - Inyo County Sheriff's Office officials report that there is a missing hiker on Mt. Whitney and ask for public’s help.

If you were on either side of Mt. Whitney and have seen this individual, please let us know!

We are also looking for photos of the summit register! If you summited Mt. Whitney on Tuesday or any day since then and you took some photos of the register, please check if you see his name in there!

If you hiked any trail/route on Mt. Whitney on Tuesday, please go through your photos and see if you can spot Tom somewhere in the background.
