October 22, 2023 - San Bernardino Police Department officials report that the northern DROs were conducting proactive patrol in the 40th Street corridor when they observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed near an elementary school. They attempted a traffic stop but the driver failed to yield and led officers on a vehicle pursuit. Eventually, the driver abruptly stopped and fled on foot through a parking lot and across a street. The officer’s Body Cam captured the incident.
The athleticism of the officer prevailed as he caught up to the suspect. Then right as the officer goes to grab the suspect he turns and punches the officer! Fortunately, the officer grabbed ahold of him and took him to the ground where he was taken into custody. The suspect had several active warrants for his arrest. He was booked on those warrants and an additional felony charge to include assaulting an officer.
