October 24, 2023 – Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Monday, October 23, 2023, about 3:21 a.m., deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station responded to the area of East State Highway 74 and State Highway 79, in the unincorporated area of Riverside County known as Green Acres, regarding a carjacking that occurred an hour prior. The victim advised that two Hispanic males, one adult and one juvenile, brandished a handgun and took the victim’s 2018 red Ford Mustang. A report was taken and the vehicle was entered into the stolen vehicle system.

About 1:00 p.m., the Rialto Police Department was alerted of the stolen vehicle in the 600 block of Foothill Boulevard. Rialto Police conducted a high-risk enforcement stop and detained the driver, Andrew Lopez, a 23-year-old resident of Perris. The Perris Station Robbery Burglary Suppression Team (RBST) responded and assumed the investigation.

Lopez was positively identified as one of the armed carjacking suspects. The victim’s vehicle was brought to the Perris Sheriff’s Station and processed for evidence and will be later released to the victim. RBST arrested Andrew Lopez for carjacking and booked him into the Cois Byrd Detention Center without incident. This investigation is on-going.
