October 29, 2023 - Monterey County Sheriff's Office officials report that on October 27, 2023, at approximately 3:50 P.M. (1550 hours), an unidentified male suspect entered the Country Jeweler and asked an employee (victim 1) for directions. The suspect was told to leave, so he exited the business and waited outside for customers to leave.
The suspect later reentered the business and brandished a firearm at victim 1, holding her against her will. The suspect was later startled when he realized a second employee (victim 2) was inside the business. Both employees were then kept together while the suspect ransacked the business. The suspect then fled on foot with approximately $50,000 worth of jewelry.
The suspect was described as a male subject, possibly Hispanic, tall, with a thin build, wearing an orange helmet, neon green long sleeve t-shirt, orange reflective vest, black jeans, and black shoes (possibly Air Jordan’s).
The firearm was described as a chrome revolver, possibly a .357.
The attached photos depict the suspect and some of the stolen items.
At this time, the investigation is ongoing.
