Deputy-Involved Shooting 

November 1, 2023 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at 3:22 p.m., deputies responded to a business in the 1400 block of South San Jacinto Avenue in San Jacinto for a report of an armed subject. The reporting party advised a Hispanic male adult had a gun at the business and left the location on a bicycle. When deputies arrived, they saw a male fitting the description of the subject riding a bicycle northbound on San Jacinto Avenue. The subject rode behind a business and deputies followed. Deputies caught up to the subject and instructed him to get off his bicycle. When the subject got off the bicycle, he produced a handgun and a deputy-involved shooting occurred.

The subject was struck by gunfire and deputies rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived. The subject was later pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics. No deputies were injured during this incident.

The involved deputy will be placed on paid administrative leave according to Department policy. The name of the involved deputy will not be released at this time.

An investigator from the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office who is assigned to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Force Investigation Detail will lead this investigation. This is an active and ongoing investigation.
