November 8, 2023 - Placer County Sheriff's Office officials report that a recent theft series in Granite Bay led PCSO deputies to work diligently in identifying and arresting the suspects, thanks to a local citizen.

Recently a Granite Bay resident called PCSO to report their Apple laptop had been stolen out of their car. The victim worked with deputies using tracking software to locate the stolen computer at an address in Orangevale. Deputies worked alongside the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office to locate the suspects involved in the theft. Two suspects were located along with the Apple laptop and additional stolen property. The suspects were identified as 19-year-old Chazz Ortiz and 18-year-old Franjo Majstoric. The pair was arrested for grand theft and conspiracy. A follow up investigation conducted by our property investigations unit identified four more individuals victimized by the suspects.

This is a reminder to please lock your cars and place your valuables elsewhere. Vehicle burglaries are typically considered to be a crime of opportunity; if your car is empty and locked, burglars will typically be deterred from trying to break into them.
