November 13, 2023 - San Diego Police Department officials report a motorcycle chase occurred, ending in a Skyline neighborhood.
Your vehicle (this includes motorcycles) needs to be equipped with the proper equipment while operating on the roads. It could have a significant impact on the operator or other drivers on the road.
When Southeastern Division Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Yamaha dirt bike riding on public streets with multiple equipment violations, things went from 0 - 60mph quickly. A vehicle pursuit ensued, and after two miles, the pursuit was called off for multiple safety reasons.
Luckily, ABLE was nearby and tracked the dirt bike to a Skyline neighborhood, where the rider abandoned the dirt bike. ABLE kept eyes on the rider and guided patrol officers into the area to make the arrest. As officers got close, the rider began running away, and a foot pursuit occurred. Officers were able to arrest the rider without further incident.
It was later determined during the officer's investigation the Yamaha dirt bike was stolen. The rider went to jail for several charges, including felony evading, hit & run, possession of a stolen, and other charges.
