November 18, 2023 - SANTA ANA, CA – San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on November 13, 2023, at about 9:56 p.m., Lakeside and Santee deputies responded to the 400 block of E Bradley Ave., El Cajon, for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. Deputies arrived on scene and found the 27-year-old male victim with gunshot wounds.  Deputies and medical personnel provided medical aid on scene. The victim was transported to the hospital. The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Javier Medina. On November 15, 2023, Medina was pronounced deceased.

Sheriff's detectives conducted an investigation culminating in the arrest of 21-year-old Hunter White. White was charged with 187(a) PC – Murder and 182 PC - Conspiracy to commit murder and booked into custody at San Diego Central Jail. At the time of his arrest, White was a resident of unincorporated El Cajon.

At this stage of the investigation, the nature of the relationship between the victim and suspect is unclear. The motivation and circumstances of the shooting are still under investigation.
