Homicide in Borrego Springs 

November 20, 2023 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on November 18, 2023, a deputy responded to the 2800 block of Borrego Springs Rd. in Borrego Springs, to check the welfare of one of the residents. A family member requested a check on her 63-year-old mother because of the living conditions. Upon arrival, the deputy was told by the family member that she saw blood in the house and her mother was not home. The family member stated three people were in the home, including her brother 41-year-old Jacob Guevara.

The deputy searched the home and found what appeared to be the deceased mother. She had apparent stab wounds to her body. The Fire Department pronounced the female victim deceased at 3:15 p.m. Her name is not being released at this time pending a positive identification from the Medical Examiner's Office.

The deputy detained all the individuals in the home. Homicide detectives completed a search warrant for the residence and conducted an investigation. Jacob Guevara was arrested for 187(a) PC - Murder. He was booked into the Vista Detention Facility.

The circumstances of the crime are still under investigation.
