December 6, 2023 - San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials report that through continued investigation, the suspect was determined to be Everardo Lopez-Vega. A warrant was obtained for Lopez-Vega’s arrest. On December 4, 2023, investigators were notified Lopez-Vega had been detained by United States Border Patrol agents in Arizona. Lopez-Vega will be extradited to San Bernardino County where he will be booked for murder.
The victim has been identified as Omar Lopez-Barraza of Apple Valley.
Original Summary: On Saturday, June 25, 2023, deputies with the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call in the 21600 block of Roundup Way, in unincorporated Apple Valley. Deputies were told a male adult was shot and robbed at the location, then transported to an unknown desert area where he was left.
Detectives with the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail responded and assumed the investigation. At approximately 5:25 p.m., a deputy from the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station was flagged down by an off-road vehicle rider who located a deceased male, near Old Woman Springs Road, in Landers. Investigators believe the deceased male to be the shooting victim. Identification of the deceased is pending coroner’s investigation.
