December 9, 2023 - Ventura County Sheriff's Office officials report that on December 7, 2023, a deputy with the Camarillo Directed Enforcement Unit saw a vehicle make an illegal turn on the roadway near Carmen Drive near the US 101 Freeway.

The deputy attempted to conduct an enforcement stop and the vehicle attempted to flee the area. The deputy went in pursuit and saw the driver begin to throw objects out of the window.  

The vehicle ultimately stopped and the driver, who was later identified as Alfred Estrada, and the passenger, who was identified as Sarah McComack, were taken into custody without incident.

Detectives with the Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit, Ventura County Combined Agency Team, and Deputies with Camarillo patrol services responded to assist with the investigation.  During a search of the suspect vehicle, deputies located approximately 5 pounds of methamphetamine and $7,000 in cash which was believed to be proceeds of narcotics sales.

Deputies also located ammunition in the vehicle. Both Estrada and McComack were convicted felons and prohibited from possessing ammunition.

Estrada and McComack were both arrested for violations of HS 11378 / Possession of Methamphetamine for Sale and PC 30305 / Felon in Possession of Ammunition.  Estrada was also charged with a violation of PC 2800.2 / Felony Evading a Peace Officer. Estrada and McComack were both booked into the Ventura County Main Jail.

The Directed Enforcement Unit is comprised of two detectives whose focus is assisting patrol services with various crimes including organized retail theft investigations.
