1st UPDATE IS AS FOLLOWS:
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a male juvenile in the city of Lancaster.
Deputies from Lancaster Sheriff’s Station responded to the 44600 block of Sierra Highway in the city of Lancaster regarding a gunshot victim call for service.
The incident occurred on Friday, December 15, 2023, at approximately 7:29 PM.
Deputies learned that while the victims were traveling in the area of Sierra Highway and East Avenue J, they were the victims of a road rage incident. During the incident, the suspect driver cut them off and then began following them through several surface streets. While being pursued by the suspects, the victim driver slowed his vehicle, at which time the suspect driver pulled up along the passenger side of the victim’s car and began shooting.
During the incident, a 4-year-old boy, who was seated in the backseat, was struck by gunfire in the upper torso. His father and mother, who were in the vehicle, immediately transported him to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Investigators immediately began working on the case, and the suspect vehicle was located in the immediate area. A Black male, 29 years of age, along with a White female, 27 years of age, have been arrested for the murder. There are no outstanding suspects, and no other people were injured during the incident.
