December 20, 2023 - Los Angeles County Sheriff Department officials report that detectives from the Sheriff Department’s Major Crimes Bureau learned of a home invasion robbery that occurred in the city of Valinda. During the robbery, the elderly victim was beaten inside her home, prior to her bedroom being ransacked. As a result of the suspect’s actions, the victim suffered facial and head trauma resulting in serious injury. Detectives responded and tasked the crime lab with processing the scene. After an extensive investigation, detectives were able to positively identify Jeremy Dates as the suspect in the robbery.

On December 19, 2023, members from the Burglary Robbery Task Force located Suspect Dates in Upland, CA. He was arrested during a traffic stop and transported to Industry Sheriff’s Station where he was booked and held on $200,000 bail with a court date of December 21, 2023, at the West Covina Courthouse.

The investigation is ongoing in order to determine if this robbery suspect is related to other home invasion robberies that have recently occurred in the Southern California Area.

The LASD MCB BRTF was formed over twelve years ago to combat the ever-increasing trend of organized crews who are committing residential burglaries along with violent robbery crime trends. The MCB BRTF works closely in support of all LASD station’s detective bureaus, as well as other Southern California law enforcement agencies. Residents and business owners are reminded to secure their properties, be aware of suspicious and unusual persons or vehicles, and to alert their local law enforcement immediately if suspicious activity is observed.

Residents should call 911 if a life-threatening emergency is detected and/or their local police business line if a suspicious person or vehicle is observed. The MCB BRTF can be contacted via e-mail at BRTF@LASD.org for tips, questions, or concerns.
