December 21, 2023 – El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office officials report that in October of 2023, Detectives from the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office began investigating a string of identity theft/credit card fraud reports. After a lengthy investigation, Detectives and Criminal Analysts identified Christopher Young and Lacey Nelson out of San Francisco (pictured below) as possible suspects associated to the fraud reports.
On December 20th, Detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in San Francisco connected to Lacey Nelson. During their search, Detectives located numerous items of mail and credit cards that were determined to be stolen from El Dorado County. Along with the mail and credit cards, Detectives also located several embossing machines which are used to create fake credit cards.
The investigation is currently on going and detectives will be contacting additional victims for follow up reports. The suspects were not home at the time of the search warrant and are still outstanding with active warrants for their arrest.
