Ghost Gun Arrests in San Marcos

December 22, 2023 - San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report that deputies from the San Marcos Sheriff's Station are committed to taking illegal ghost guns off the streets in the North County.

On December 13, a 16-year-old juvenile ran from deputies in the 1600 block of Grandon Avenue and threw a loaded, un-serialized ghost gun in the bushes as he tried to escape. He was safely taken into custody and arrested for various firearm charges.  He was later booked into Juvenile Hall.

On December 14, deputies approached a large group of juveniles in the 300 block of Autumn Drive. Several juveniles fled from deputies, including a 16-year-old who deputies observed dropping a loaded, un-serialized ghost gun in a bush as he attempted to get away. The juvenile was later detained without incident. He was arrested for various firearm charges and booked into Juvenile Hall.

On Thursday, December 21, deputies approached a group of juveniles near the San Marcos Civic Center along Civic Center Drive. A 17-year-old juvenile removed a loaded, un-serialized ghost gun from his waistband and threw it onto the train tracks as deputies were moving in to detain him. He was arrested for various firearm charges and later booked into Juvenile Hall.

Because the suspects are minors, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department cannot release any further information at this time.
