Vehicle Collision in San Marcos
January 4, 2024 - San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on Monday, January 1, after 6:00 a.m. near South Santa Fe Avenue and North Rancho Santa Fe Road, deputies arrived on scene and located a white truck which had crashed into a traffic signal pole. Fire Personal, paramedics, and deputies rushed to assist the driver, but the male did not survive his injuries. He was the only person inside the truck when the collision occurred.
A preliminary investigation showed the truck was going north on North Rancho Santa Fe Road and attempted to turn onto S. Santa Fe Avenue. As the truck made the turn, it struck a traffic signal pole. It is unknown at this time if a medical emergency, drugs, or alcohol played a role in the crash.
The Medical Examiner's Office will make a positive identification of the male, as well as determine the cause and manner of death pending notification of his family.
