Stabbing Suspect Arrested
January 5, 2024 - Alturas, CA - Modoc County Sheriff's Office officials report that at approximately 6:52 P.M., deputies were dispatched to Bridge Street, in Fort Bidwell, California for a reported stabbing. The victim, age 24, was reportedly stabbed in the neck by Rigoberto "Reggie" Castillo, age 30.
The victim was transported to Surprise Valley Hospital by a friend and was found to have suffered a non-life-threatening injury.
Deputies responded to the scene where they located additional evidence. A search of the area was conducted, and Castillo was later located hiding at a residence on the Fort Bidwell Indian Community. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Modoc County Jail.
Castillo was booked into the Modoc County Jail for attempted murder, kidnapping, carrying a concealed fixed blade knife and violation of parole. Castillo is currently on parole for lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under 14. Castillo is being held on a parole hold and expected to be arraigned on the new charges early next week.
