Death Investigation in El Cajon 

January 7, 2024 - San Diego County Sheriff's Department officials report that on January 6, 2024, at about 12:45 P.M., the Sheriff's san diego county sheriff department logoDepartment received a radio call of an assault with a deadly weapon at a residence in the 1600 block of Hilton Head Court, in the unincorporated area of El Cajon. There was a report of gunshots and at least one victim. Deputies arrived and entered the residence. They located two victims with gunshot wounds. The deputies provided medical aid to both victims until paramedics arrived and took over medical care.

The victims have been identified as 41-year-old Jose Benjamin Lopez Valle and his wife, 38-year-old Brenda Valle. A firearm was located near the victims. It appears that Jose's injury was self-inflicted. They were parents to three children, ages 18, 16 and 11. The children were not injured and are being cared for.

The investigation is still being conducted. There are no outstanding suspects and there is no threat to the community.
