Train Collision in Sorrento Valley
January 12, 2024 - San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report that an investigation is underway after a deadly train collision in Sorrento Valley.
It happened on Thursday, January 11th, at approximately 6:30 A.M. Near the intersection of Sorrento Valley Road and Carmel Mountain Road in the City of San Diego. When San Diego Police Officers arrived, they found a man, who was hit by a southbound North County Transit District Coaster train. The patient did not survive his injuries.
The Sheriff's Transit Enforcement Unit (TEU) investigates incidents along the routes of the North County Transit District. San Diego Police requested the Sheriff's TEU respond to conduct the investigation.
The Medical Examiner's Office will make a positive identification of the man, as well as determine cause and manner of death pending notification of his family.
